“Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.” – Erma Bombeck.

How does a no-kill animal shelter survive in a small town community?

The answer is volunteerism.  Volunteering at an animal shelter is the essence of BCPR.

From those whom open the shelter doors in the morning to feeding the animals, to those whom attend and coordinate fundraising events, regardless of mother nature's own agenda.  From volunteers whom devote time for marketing events, assist with shelter care, training volunteers or fostering animals whom are in need of additional care. To those whom help keep our our shelter safe and sound regardless of the time or circumstances that prevail. Stepping up to lend a helping hand when another volunteer needs the time to take care of family matters. Through it all, our rescues become a part of the pack, that is searching for a fur-ever home.  Each time a rescue is adopted, it means that  their dedication and love has given another animal at second chance at life.  But it's also a time to service other rescues entering BCPR;  abused and abandoned or those whom owners tearfully can no longer safely take care of their pets and must surrender them in hope they find someone that can care for them.

Each month, our Volunteer Coordinator, Robyn Monaco and other lead volunteers, acknowledge the hard work and dedication of one of our volunteers.  Going forward, each month, they will be featured on this page, and in our shelter.  But every volunteer is appreciated and their hard work is never overlooked.

As a volunteer since 2013, I have worked with many volunteers, some behind the scenes and some on a day-to-day basis. On behalf of our rescues, thank you and keep spreading those words that resonate those of our mission.
